RESULTS: Club Championship Qualifying & Saturday 9/3 Matches

2011 Club Championship

    Fall River Country Club's 2011 Men's Club Championship quailifying round was held on Saturday, August 27th. Both the Championship Division and First Division competitors completed the 18-hole round, but play for the Second Division was canceled as the golf course eventually reached the point of complete saturation from the rain. Congratulations to everyone who completed their round or stayed on the course through extremely inclement weather!
    With Hurricane Irene creeping closer to our area, Sunday's scheduled start of match play has been postponed. Match play will now begin on Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th. The dates for division matches beyond that will be announced soon.
    In the Championship Division, the lowest eight gross scores advanced to the match play bracket. Congratulations to this year's medalist and #1 seed, John Carroll! John was one under par on the back nine and posted a score of 72(+2). Kyle Duarte finished one shot back, posting 73(+3) to secure the #2 seed.  Saturday's first round matches and tee times are provided below.
    In the First Division, the lowest eight net scores advanced to the match play bracket. Congratulations to #1 seed Frank D'Isidoro! Frank posted a net score of 68(-2) and finished 3 shots ahead of the #2 seed, Steve Howard.  Saturday's first round matches and tee times are provided below.
    As noted above, the Second Division participants were unable to complete the qualifying round. When play was halted, eleven players in the division qualifier were "brave" enough to still be playing. As a reward for enduring the weather, all eleven players who remained have advanced to match play! A bracket of 16 has been created, with seeding determined by random draw. A few players will receive a "bye" for Saturday, while others will have a match. The randomly drawn seeds and Saturday match schedule is provided below. Any player with a "bye" will have a match on Sunday.
