Friday Night Mixed League
2011 Final Week Review & Season Standings

Fall River Country Club's 2011 Friday Night Mixed League season conluded on Friday, August 26th.  Fifty different FRCC members played at least one week this season, but only one finished on top of the season-long points leaderboard.  Congratulations to Linda Jordan, the 2011 Mixed League Champion!  Kevin Jordan, Linda's husband, finished in second place.  Needless to say, it was a fun season, especially in the Jordan household!  

Throughout the summer several teams were in contention, while many different couples and combinations won a week or earned "Tournament Winnings".  Early in the league schedule, the Jordans, Jerry and Eleni LoPorto, Tom and Mary Carroll, and Bill and Bonnie Chamberlain, all sat near the top of the standings.  Dave and Gail McGovern made a late-season charge to climb up leaderboard, while Len and Lynn Sullivan played only one week, but won the week ten format with Bob and Janet Capone! 

Weekly participation certainly helped in the points race, but the weekly winners often varied.  Considering Kevin and Linda competed often and frequently did well, it was no surprise that entering the final week of the year, Kevin and Linda were tied for the season-long points lead!

The traditional format for the last week of league play pits all of the week's men against all of the week's women.  The one best ball (net) of each gender is determined for each hole, then the nine holes are totaled.  Last season, the women won by a margin of 26 to 30, posting their third victory in four years.  The victorious gender takes home all the first place points, while the losing side receives nothing!  It makes for a great format to end the year.

The men had an early lead after the first few holes were totaled, mostly on the strength of a net 3 on the 2nd hole.  However, the lead quickly disappeared as the women posted net 1s on both the 3rd and 8th hole.  Although the men lowered their score to 28 this season, the FRCC ladies posted another 26 to win the gender battle, yet again!  With the help of all the week's women, Linda Jordan captured the 2011 individual crown, while Kevin managed to stay alone in 2nd place.  Congratulations to both the Jordans for their performace this season!  The Top-10 players in this year's point standings are provided below.

Thank you to all the Mixed League competitors for making this season so enjoyable.  Despite losing multiple weeks to rain, the 2011 league still had the largest amount of different partcipants in the last four years!  Discussion has already begun for a revamped 2012 schedule, complete with different formats and more!  If you have any feedback or ideas you would like to share, please speak with the Professional Staff.  To review the 2011 league schedule, you can click here.
